Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC) is Alaska's main hub. It has two terminals: one for domestic flights (south) and one for international flights (north). This airport primarily offers regular passenger flights to various destinations, mostly within the United States. The most common destinations are Kenai, Seattle, Minneapolis, Denver, Las Vegas, New York and Phoenix. First, it's important to note that parking at Ted Stevens Anchorage Airport is free for up to 30 minutes. This applies to all parking lots, whether they are short-term or long-term parking lots. This is very convenient for people dropping off and picking up passengers who arrive at the ANC departure hall earlier than planned. Only a few airports in the U.S. offer 30 minutes of free parking, which is a major plus for this airport. Also, don't forget about the Cell Phone Waiting Area, where you can wait in your car for free for as long as you need while waiting for arriving or delayed flights. Flight delays due to bad weather are not uncommon there. The cell phone lot is located just two minutes away from the south and north terminals. If you're picking someone up from the airport, it's best to wait until they come out of the terminal building, because long-term parking in front of the exit from the ANC departure hall and parking along International Airport Road is strictly prohibited. Your friends or relatives should first collect all their luggage and then get in touch with you to let you know which door they are at. If travellers have difficulty walking, the best way to help them is to park in the covered car park and go inside the terminal to meet them. That way, you can assist them as required. All airlines also provide services for unaccompanied minors and old people needing wheelchair assistance. The pickup location for the North Terminal is right by the main entrance on the curb. The pickup location at the South Terminal is on the upper level, along the ramp, and near the Ticketing and Departures area, on Doors 1, 3, 4, and 8. For more information about the drop-off and pick-up areas at Ted Stevens Anchorage Airport, visit the airport's official website.

Outward flight: If you want to drive someone to the Anchorage airport, you can drive right up to the terminal entrance (terminal south and terminal north). At the South Terminal, use the upper access ramp. Pull over briefly to let passengers out right at the curb. In the North Terminal, the drop-off zone is also located on the upper level in front of the departure area. It is generally recommended to arrive 2 hours before your flight (domestic flights). For international flights, we would even arrive there 3 hours before the flight. Pay attention to traffic signs and don't linger there: get out of the car quickly and unload your luggage.

Return flight: It is recommended to drive up to the terminal entrance once passengers have already retrieved their luggage and exited the building to the outdoor pickup area. In the South Terminal, the pickup area (curbside) for private vehicles, Uber, and Lyft is located on the upper level (Departures/Ticketing) across from Gates 1, 3, 4, and 8. In the North Terminal, the pickup area is located right at the curb in front of the main exit. If, for example, you arrive at the ANC departure hall too early, drive into the parking garage across from the terminal building. There, you can park for up to 30 minutes for free and wait in your car. Another option for waiting in your car is the Cell Phone Waiting Area, which is also free of charge. You'll find it's the ideal place to unwind until your friends call to let you know they're ready to be picked up.
